SuperForest Soundtrack: Instant Karma

Have you heard John Lennon’s “Instant Karma”?  I hadn’t before 2 minutes ago.  And even better then the song is the video.  And to answer your burning question, yes… that is Yoko blindfolded in the background, yes she is knitting in close-ups.  Yes!

And we all shine on! Have a great week from Team SF!

Peace and love and love and peace.
Thank you for an amazing 2009.

Love, Amor, Mahal

Hey SuperForesters!

As a kid, all I knew of John Lennon was his Beatles songs, his round spectacles and that he met a gal named Yoko who caused the successful band to disband (I now know better). And ever since I watched this, I’ve been fascinated with him and his efforts of creating an ad campaign for peace. He also loved to draw. Check out this portrait he did of his family (below). I find it very sweet the way he and Yoko are portrayed as having one body. the_lennons

John once said:

The simplest way of saying what Yoko is to me, and what I am to her, is that before we met, we were half a person, you know. There is no myth about people being half and the other half being in the sky or in heaven or something, or the other side of the universe, or the mirror image bit. But, er, we are two halves and together we are a whole.”

And a tweet from Yoko:

Oh, and finally, here’s a little push for those who have been putting off letting someone know how they feel.

War Is Over in 47 Languages!

Good Day, SuperForest!

This past Tuesday (Dec. 8th) marked the 29th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination and I just learned that as a tribute to her late husband, Yoko Ono and “Imagine Peace” have continued the poster campaign they began in 1968 by crowdsourcing translations of the iconic “War is Over (If You Want it)” text.

To date, they have collected translations in over 47 languages (!!!) and you can flip through the flickr set, here.

So the current tally says Team John and Yoko is ahead of Team SuperForest and its Humanifesto translations by 27 languages. What do you think? We can totally catch up, right? (hehehe)

Love to all.

“The Beatles Never Broke Up”

The Beatles

Hi, SuperForest!

I was skimming through waxy the other day when I came across the heading “The Beatles Never Broke Up”. All sorts of sirens went off in my head and when I clicked on the link to investigate, I learned a fascinating tale. Apparently, back in September, a man who goes by the name of James Richards was in the desert chasing his dog when he tripped on a rabbit hole, hit his head, was knocked unconscious, and shwoooop! was transported into an alternate dimension; one in which the Beatles never broke up. He stole one of their tapes before being transported back into our dimension and has these secret songs available for our listening pleasure.

Everyday Chemistry

You can listen to the entire album, “Every Day Chemistry”, here! Included are brilliant tracks such as “I‘m Just Sitting Here“, “Over the Ocean“, and “Anybody Else“. Definitely give it a listen.

And you can read the entire story here! Now, believing the story is entirely up to you, but according to Richards, Yoko is around in the alternate universe so…yeah.

Love to All,

Carla

(Okay, Okay. So in reality, this dude made a brilliant mash up of Beatles’ post-break up albums. But talk of alternate universes and a personal longing for more Beatles records made me more inclined to share the made up story instead. And who knows? Maybe it isn’t made up!1)

  1. But my personal bias still tells me the Yoko thing is a bit of a stretch :D []

War is Over (via NASCAR & Coors Light!)

Wow!

Seems we can all just get along.
It’s great to see companies like this shaking off the whole “Red state/Blue state” nonsense.

After all, more Peace = more beer drinkers and NASCAR viewers, and that’s a big plus.

Sweet.

A huge SuperForesty “Congratulations!” to NASCAR and Coors Light for promoting Peace.

Love to All,

Team SuperForest

"N" is for Peace.

Good Morning!

Happy Monday.

I’m going to post a new addition (or two) to “Peace Alphabet” every day, so check back often.

Here are all of them so far:

“A” is for Peace.
“B” is for Peace.
“C” is for Peace.
“O” is for Peace.
“P” is for Peace.

Hey, you can spell “Abcop”! Or, “Pabco”!

Fun!

A huge thanks to John and Yoko, who took the photo the above drawing references, with a time-delay camera, some time between May and November, 1968.

love love love love love.
