The World’s Longest Handshake: Success!

hulkPic Xinhua/Reuters

Last week, I wrote a post about two strapping young men’s quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest handshake ever recorded. I’m happy to report that Lindsay and Jack grasped palms for a total of 12 hours, 34 minutes and 56 seconds! Massive effort! And easily surpassing the current record of 11 hours. All that remains is for the boys to complete the extensive paperwork required by Guinness to verify their claim. Looks to us like it’s in the bag.

In Lindsay’s words:

The strangest and best moment of the day was when – to our complete astonishment – Hulk Hogan walked through the door! He was in the studio to do a pre-recorded interview with [Australian radio presenter] Adam Spencer, so we had a good little chat with him and got a few snaps. He has hands like dinner plates! There were a few journalists there at the time as well, so the pics got sent on the newswire all around the world. It made the day so much more ridiculous and incredible.”

If you missed April’s post yesterday about the “World’s Longest Handshake”  – please read it now here!

Seeing it got me all excited for elaborate gestures of brotherly love, and reminded me of this rad short viddy:

The World’s Longest Handshake Challenge

Helllooooo y’all.

This coming Monday, September 21, two ambitious young men, namely Jack Tsonis and Lindsay Morrison (see below), will attempt to break the Guinness Record for the World’s Looooooongest Handshake. The current record is 11 hours, so the lads are going to try and hit up 12 hours, 34 minutes and 56 seconds ouchies!

Apart from the instant elevation of their street creds, the boys are also looking to help out two very wonderful causes with their monstrously long handshake. September 21 is also the UN’s International Day of Peace. As such, the boys have chosen to donate the money raised to The Wayside Chapel in Sydney, Aus, as well as UNHCR (the UN’s refugee agency). If you think this is as ludicrously wonderful as hotdogs covered in batter, you can donate online here. Word is the address for the webstream will be posted on this site in the next day or so.

Shake it, people!
