April’s Journal (7/28/2009): Sydney’s Winterfest Medieval Fair 2009

Last weekend, I attended Sydney’s annual medieval fest. I’ve never been to one before (didn’t know it existed) and the invitation seemed too fabulous to resist. Knights, swords, jousting, archery, and costumes! Admittedly, I’ve never been one to really partake in the whole “dress ups” thing. As of very recently, I am a changed woman. Decked out in green, a female Robin Hood if you will, I had a ball. When you really soak up the theme, people from outta nowhere approach you, kids point, and you get a $5 discount on the entry fee! As far as I can see, it’s A-OK to dress up.

Anyways, the day was filled with amazingly detailed fighting displays and nail-biting joust tournaments. Since I’m not well versed in the ways of medieval life (well, I guess I watched Robin Hood: Men In Tights a few times…), I was pretty taken with the reenactments I witnessed.

5Me again, giving it my best shot.

In true medieval style, I bid ye all farewell.
