Cardboard Love in a Digital World

cardboardloveheader

Okay so I know this is really really sappy and girly but considering the fact that exactly 80% of the people who have filled out the SuperForest Survey so far are lady SuperForesters (Come on, guys! Gentlemen SuperForesters are waaay behind!), I figured I could get away with posting this.

Cardboard love is a website that is home to hundreds of sweet little love notes a guy named Joey writes for his girlfriend, Maria. And he writes those little notes on pieces of cardboard. Now, when I first read about this, I was a bit of a skeptic. I mean, so much of this idea could turn out to be incredibly corny (and it very well may still be…) but when I visited the site and read his words, I couldn’t help but let out a big, “Awwwwwww!!!!”

So now it’s our turn. Make someone’s day by telling them how special they are to you. Express yourself! Maybe even give them a bit of validation! Because if Joey can make us smile without us even knowing him, imagine the smiles you can create by giving out these sort of messages to the people that are close to you. In the end, it’ll probably make your day, too!

And as a simple reminder…

It’s true!!!!

Love,

Validation Update!

Good Evening SuperForest!

I hope you had a lovely Tuesday. I just read the funniest thing on Yahoo:

Four states adopt ‘no-smiles’ policy for driver’s licenses

My initial reaction–as I’m sure yours was– was: what?!?!
Like most Yahoo headings, it was so shocking/interesting that I just had to click.
Apparently the DMV has created a software meant to stop people from creating fake IDs that bases itself off of face recognition which requires neutral faces. Smiles tend to ruin the results of the face recognition program and thus, they have been banned.

I was immediately reminded of my all time favorite short film: Validation, which I posted up on SuperForest back in January. I figured this little bit of news called for a renewed spotlight on this wonderful film about smiling. Its a bit long, but very very worth it. Enjoy!

For a SuperForest style “You are GREAT! You are AMAZING!” validation card, check out the original post.

The DMV may tell you not to smile within their facilities, but my friends, in the world beyond that building “Do it anyway”

Keep smiling,

So you, yes you, although I may not know you personally, although I cannot look you in the eyes and tell you this: YOU are GREAT! YOU are AMAZING! You can change the world…even with a smile.

So show off that beautiful smile and help others do the same. Print out this simple reminder and pass it on:
