Good Morning SuperForest,
I just heard about time banking, which is when a group of people come together and trade their skills for “time dollars” which can then be spent within the group on whatever you need. Everything is run through a central website which tracks what the group’s members have offered and requested.
Check out a British time bank:
Say I go and help Sally weed her garden for two hours. I’ve just made two time dollars! I can then go on my time banking site and “spend” my time dollars on something I need. Like a massage! Or dog-sitting. Whatever I want.
Right now, I’ve offered blogging lessons, lessons on how to upcycle wine bottles into glasses and vases, and I’ve offered to sew elbow patches on someones jacket. I’ve requested sailing lessons and am busy thinking about what I really need help with. Perhaps I should learn to salsa dance?
Most states have a time banking system already set up. For the central US time banking site, click here. And for the New York time bank, click here.
Free, easy, and fun. Your imagination and desires are your only limit.
