Gooood Morning SuperForest,
I’ve been trying hard to condense and distill my thinking about living SuperForesty into something short and catchy. I’ve been trying to come up with a new set of givens for my life. In science, a “given” is a fact that we can all assume to be true.
I’m not saying that these givens will be true for everybody, but they are true for me.
Enjoy.
The 2010 SuperForest Givens
1.) Humans are innately good inside. If we have the basics necessary to support our lives, we will treat each other well.
2.) Humans want the best for their friends and family.
3.) The internet has provided us with instant communication, and as a result, the entire world has become friends and family. We were friends and family before the internet, it was just harder to see. Now with social apps, email, and skype, the cultural divisions between us are disappearing rapidly.
All present decisions, whether actions or reactions, must be considered and weighed in this context.
Translation: Peace has begun. We have realized that separation and division were just illusions.
Now, as one race, we rally against the greatest enemy ever faced: Death and destruction, and the negativity that fuels it.
We must turn our armies from fighting one another, to fighting the enemies of man: malnutrition and starvation, disease, fascism, environmental destruction, unwanted isolation, drought.
Imagine if the new game was no longer Humans vs. Humans, but was Humans vs. All the things that kill humans.
We’d be indestructable, and this Earth would become a second Eden. The great tower of Babel has been rebuilt, and once again, the Earth is united in a common tongue (binary.) What can we accomplish now that we are one species?
We have the tools and technology to feed and house and clothe and educate and support all six billion of us.
Will we do it?
