Richard Seymore – “The Imagination Challenge”

Hello, SuperForest!

The fine folks over at Eastman Innovations Lab (the same people that brought you “Lessons from the Desert“) are back with another insightful video (with a lot less “hands”) featuring the insight of industrial designer, Richard Seymour. The topic? Imagination. Or rather, the gap between the capability of our tools and the extent of our imagination.

He says:

We don’t need to talk about what we can do, we need think about what we should do. And that’s the role of the designer, because they might be the only person in the room who’s got that imagination, that capability to think beyond it.

And applied at a greater context, perhaps “the role of the designer” can be considered the role of any being. I mean, after all, we’re all designers to some extent, right?
