A SuperForest Weekend & New Friend(s) in LA

Aloha SuperForest!

Mathew here. I wanted to update you all with a special SuperForest celebration! Drum roll please!

BUMBUMBUMBUMBUBMBUMBUM!

Cafe Gratitude LA has just opened! It is located in Hollywood on Larchmont Blvd. The full address is as follows: 639 N. Larchmont Blvd Los Angles (City of Angels), CA

For those who are unaware of the power of Cafe Gratitude here is a description in a few sentences: Cafe Gratitude is a raw foods and vegan restaurant chain that practices life transformation through business. In so many ways it is like our own SuperForest, but in restaurant form. They practice the art of love through food and service. In short these folks are changing the world! Some of you might even remember when I posted video of their founders, Matthew and Terces Engelhart, from the Leaders Causing Leaders event.

So, my LA friends (or any friends visiting LA) get yourself to Cafe Gratitude and enjoy the food, friendship, and love they are out to extend to the world. Best part..they are open all week from 10 to 10!

And to give you more incentive to go (as if you needed it), our own Jon Marro is working on the art around the restaurant, including the wall art in the bathrooms! Head on over and check it out!

What is even more exciting is that we had a big opening party over the weekend, which resulted in a gathering of SuperForesters. SuperForesters Jackson and Melissa flew back to the mainland from Zero One to join in the fun. SuperForesters Jackson did this immediately, helping SuperForester Jon draw this beautiful piece of art:

SuperForester Jason played his rhythms:

With Toca of course:

SuperForester Jesse also made an appearance later on in the night. Not to even mention the hundreds of SuperForesters there present, living, and celebrating. The energy was overflowing in love and joy, and these words will surely only fall flat in my feeble attempt to recapture the evening.

If you couldn’t make it that night then please make it to the Cafe to celebrate with the staff and costumers for making their way to LA so successfully.

Team Cafe Gratitude LA, Team SuperForest extends a welcome to your presence in LA. Let your love shine bright.

In the wise words of SuperForester Jason:

Love to you all,

Team SuperForest & SuperForester Mathew

Jackson is More Hip!

What a wonderful way to start my day!

Please have a listen to a great interview with SuperForest’s very own Jackson on one of my favorite Podcasts, More Hip Than Hippie!  It’s FANTASTIC!!!  (Plus, you get to learn about the Three Ps. ;) )

Thank you Jackson, for sharing your time and life with us!!

PS Jackson – Your porn star name…one of the best I’ve heard…ever. ;)

William Burroughs & Gus Van Sant – “The Discipline of D.E.”

SuperForester Jesse sent me this little film last week.

It’s an 1982 Gus Van Sant film based on a William Burroughs short story.

The Discipline of DE is about doing everything the easiest way possible, and therefore the fastest and most energy efficiently. If you make a mistake, go back and repeat the action, this time correcting for the mistake. Eventually, you’ll be moving through life so efficiently, you won’t be “doing” anything.

This Do Easy discipline has embedded itself deeply in my software. Tonight, as I was making my bed, I found myself using the Do Easy technique. I thought: “Oh wow, this youtube video has totally changed my life for the better.” Now I hardly ever twitch hot tea across the Duchess.

Great ideas are sticky like that.

Enjoy The Discipline of D.E. (There is some Old West-style gunfightin’ in the end, but it’s brief and non-horrible.)

SuperForester Jesse Presents: Cardboard Man

cardboard-man

Just got a wonderful email from SuperForester Jesse, who writes:

“(Hello SuperForest,)

Today I spent 15 minutes tearing apart the elaborate packaging that
my new headphones came wrapped in… The oversized box was an
intricate piece of work, full of thick, seemingly un-recyclable
plastic molds, and tape, and glue, and a shiny red coating on all the
cardboard from the box… I couldn’t bring myself to just chuck the
whole thing into the trash because I pictured it floating out in the
middle of the pacific ocean… or piled high on a Wall-E-esque
landfill somewhere in the world… so I began stripping the plastic
coating off of the cardboard because underneath the laminated
material was plain old cardboard, ready to be broken down and re-
used. I admit that I was in the middle of a state of frustration as
I worked to tear off the well glued plastic coating… but then
suddenly after pulling off a chunk of material, I was greeted by a
figure and the figure spoke to me… reminding me to find joy and
creativity in any action, no matter how frustrating it seems on the
surface… and telling me not to worry… because SOMEDAY… and
someday soon… ALL PACKAGING MATERIAL WILL BE RECYCLABLE!!! Luckily
I had a pen lying around to bring his message to life, and so now I
pass it along to you…

Rejoice!

The future that we want is possible!!! Right?

Yes! If we want anything bad enough, we can have it. No matter how great the odds against us seem.

Thank you, Jesse!

“Dear Ones…. Sat Nam

Every planet has the power of being a lens — a lens that increases the affects of the cosmic forces always moving through our solar system. The planets do this by focusing them through their gravitational field and the angle of location in the solar system. Sometimes one of the planets will focus this lens directly onto the Earth. Sometimes—more rarely—several planets will align and combine their focus of these forces on the Earth.

On this day (February 11, 2009) a day of just such a planetary alignment . . . the lingering affects of the Solar Eclipse and the Lunar Eclipse along with a Mars/ Saturn /Uranus alignment and Moon/Jupiter linked.

A moment of tremendous opportunity or tremendous challenge, whichever angle you choose to approach it with . . . the binary universe has a reaction for every action.

It is important to know; there will come a moment when we will all look back at this larger period and see it not so much as a time of change, but as the beginning of real time.

These days will then be known as a moment when the seeds of reality were planted in the soil of our collective fantasy (maya), and the actual technologies of this physical/material world were finally understood.

As one of those pioneers of this planting, you can often find yourself outside the lines of normal, bucking the trends and defending progress . . . we see it at every level of society and in the news every day. You are probably uncomfortable–some of the time–until realizing that being outside these lines is exactly where you, in fact, want to be.

Today’s “normal” may rest with the majority, but it is not normal, nor very appropriate, and it is definitely not safe or real. Relax and begin to truly enjoy your pioneering place in society . . . the adventure of discovering what is, and the role of being a teacher of this discovery.

Always with Sacred Love, Blessings, Prayer and Gratitude . . .
Guru Singh and Guruperkarma Kaur”

Whoops! This was for yesterday. But now you know why you felt so amazing yesterday.
Hope hope.
