SuperForester Dominic just emailed a poem he wrote based off of A New Earth‘s chapter 7 by Eckhart Tolle. This chapter describes finding one’s true self and the poem, as you’ll see, carries on this theme in the sense that its rather open ended and lets YOU create your own meaning in it. We want to encourage you to “fill in the blanks” his writing provides and release your inner poet. I’ll provide my example and hopefully you’ll all decide to create your own! Here’s his:
What is your relationship with Life?
Friend, foe, is He an obstacle?
Does She bring happiness,
Are you distant?
Do you wish Him near,
But She wanders from you?
Are you Aware,
What is your relationship with Life?
What is your relationship with Life?
Fellow seeker, unconscious friend, is She present?
Does He hide,
Do you seek?
Do you find peace in Her presence,
But does He ruin tranquility?
Aren’t you Aware,
What is your relationship with Life?
Who is He? Who is She?
Who are you?
Do not reject, but accept
What is your relationship with Life?

What is my relationship with now?
Friend, foe, is my ego an obstacle?
Do I bring happiness,
Or am I distant?
Do I wish happiness near,
But in my superficial efforts to find it, let it wander from me?
Am I Aware?
What is my relationship with now?
What is my relationship with Life?
Fellow seeker, unconscious friend, are the threads of life that connect us all, present?
Does our ego hide the possibilities our soul relentlessly seeks?
Do we find peace in presence, and let the trivial ruin tranquility?
Aren’t we Aware, Shouldn’t we be?
What is my relationship with Life?
Who am I? Do I have to ask? or simply take life as it comes?
Reject nothing, accept all, for the stress of this moment is separate from the bliss of the next.
It is separate from the bliss of the present.
