Movember Reign

Good afternoon, SuperForest!

Heard of Movember? The month-long celebration which highlights men’s issues during the month of November? Well, it started back in 2003, when two guys decided to grow moustaches starting November 1 through till the 30th, in an effort to raise money, have fun and encourage guys to talk about their health with each other. Although this year’s ‘mo-mania is almost over, and soon all those who ditched their razor will pick it up again in favour of a bald upper lip, I thought we at SuperForest ought to say a big thanks to all you fellas out there who took part. Thank you!

For those keen to grow a ‘mo for Movember 2010, here’s a little inspiration…

And, ladies, you can take part too…

Raccoon Mario Rug!

raccoon mario rug

Done by crocheting granny squares and excel spreadsheets, someone’s boyfriend out there just got a funky rug.

Here it is from the creator herself:

“Hello everyone!  This is the first project I’ve posted on Craftster (he’s on my Ravelry page now).  It is a 7x7ft 8-bit Raccoon Mario rug!  This is my bf’s birthday present  Smiley He’s made of 386 granny squares, each one representing 1 pixel (3.5″ each) that makes up Raccoon Mario.  I learned to crochet in February by watching youtube videos and recently watched another video for granny squares and got started on this project right away.  I had originally thought that it would take me over 1 month to complete if I made about 10 granny squares per day.” -enemyairship

Definitely a love rug. Which reminds me of:

“Wipe your feet really good on the rhythm rug
If you feel the urge to freak, do the jitterbug!”

- a tribe called quest

What a beautiful gift! To music and rugs. To crafting something with your own two hands. To Racoon Mario…

Have a great day

Buzz Aldrin & Super Mario Team Up Against Gravity

Being the second man on the moon = Priceless.
Being the second man on the moon who gets to float weightless with the most iconic video game character of all time? = Pricelesser.
Has to be seen to be believed. (Scroll down)

We can’t honestly think of who this situation is the most surreal for. The man in the Mario suit, Buzz Aldrin, the cameraman, or any of the onlookers.

From Nintendo: Mario, Nintendo’s iconic video game character, and Dr. Buzz Aldrin float in zero-gravity atmosphere to train for Mario’s upcoming game set in space, Super Mario Galaxy for Wii on November 03, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.”

Train Buzz, train!
We absolutely adore Buzz Aldrin. Here’s a little known fact: He’s made of titanium from the waist up. Wow!
