Behind the Curtain: The Superstars to Thank For the SuperForest Humanifesto Video!

Good Morning, SuperForest!

It’s been several days since we first shared with you the outcome of our first street team mission, The SuperForest Humanifesto Birthday Video, and after seeing the brilliant outpour of responses, I noticed that several questions kept coming up: “Who’s the lovely lady on the bike with the bell? What about the enthusiastic one that says WE MUST START NOW? Is it Aaron or Jordan that’s upside-down? And who is the guy behind the “Extremely Bad Manners” bit?!”

So in response, I decided it’d be best to present you all with a “field notes”-style description of the video in which I chronologically list the SuperForesters that are featured by the order of their appearance. I also began to write little blurbs about who each of these people were and how much they mean to me, but an hour and 2o minutes later, I realized 49 names is a lot! So I opted with a simple list of names, instead (while heavily depending on the notion that I’ll have plenty more opportunities to shed more light on how awesome each of the featured people are). In the mean time, when available, I hyperlinked their names to their posts, blogs, and any other interesting tid bits I could find in hopes that you’d discover their awesomeness on your own.

Wowza, that’s a lot of people. And there’s something about seeing the names lined up like that that makes me giggle at the fact that we were actually able to pull this off. It should also be noted that unfortunately, due to formatting difficulties (and a lack of time toward the end), videos by SuperForesters Ewa, Lena, and Julia weren’t able to be included (but their efforts and energy (and patience with me) were hugely appreciated).

Also not listed is every single one of you that watched the video and/or shared it with those you know. Because whether you know it or not, each and every one of you constitutes a very important part of what made this video a success and are a significant part of what makes SuperForest the beacon of positivity that it is today. And I truly mean all of you.

Now, obviously a simple list of names isn’t enough for me to properly express the gratitude I feel toward each of you and the energy you put toward this project…but when I think about it, I don’t think any sort of words would ever be enough. I am sure of this though: Making this video was an amazing experience for me and as I published the video, I couldn’t help but feel this was only the start of a huge host of collaborative media and projects that we could create together.

So trust me when I say there is much more to come. And if your eyes have made it through this incredibly long and text heavy post (congratulations by the way, your eyes must be super strong) and if you are feeling like you would like to be a part of the SuperForest Street Team and get news updates as to our projects and missions, would you please do us a favor and drop us a line? The email address is contact{at}superforest{dot}org! Tell us you’re interested in becoming an active member of the SuperForest community and I’ll add you to the mailing list, right away!

We’ve already started discussing what the next project might be and we’d love for you to be a part of it and join in on the fun!

So much love and appreciation to all of you positivity patrons,
Carla and Team SuperForest

Carla’s Journal (10/18/10): “This is What My Life Looks Like Right Now…”

…and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Pictured above is a screen grab of the iMovie application I’ve gotten really cozy with over the past few days. If posting seems to be a little slow, it’s probably because I’ll be spending much time trimming and editing the clips I’ve been receiving for the third anniversary video we’re putting together! I don’t want to give too much away, but I figured the image could serve as a nice teaser of what to expect.

Here’s what I didn’t expect though. I didn’t expect to get a little teary-eyed after seeing three and a half minutes of SuperForesters near and far speaking words we’ve all grown very familiar with over the past three years. I didn’t expect this project to work half as well as it has been working. Because it’s one thing to have a crazy idea (and try to get that idea done in a couple weeks), but to have that crazy idea supported by a large group of people across the planet and see them devote the time and energy into helping me make it happen…whoa, that’s on an entirely different level of awesome.

Keep the good energy flowing this way…and especially toward the way of my macbook whose been a real sport throughout this entire process (haha). Everything is fantastic. And I know many of you are to thank for this.

So thank you. For everything. I look forward to sharing more throughout the week! And of course, don’t forget to stop by for the premiere of the video on Friday evening. (fingers crossed!)

Love,
Carla

SuperForest Street Team Mission #1 (Update): SuperForest Video Due Dates Have Been Moved Up!

Hi SuperForesters!

We’ve received a wonderful amount of responses to our SuperForest video project! Thanks to SuperForesters:

Chris               Jesse              Heather           Susan A.             Patti
Iman               Jackie             Jeremy              Gina                   Sondra
Nika               Tricia              Billy                  Dominique         Daniela
Lena               Jason             Jordan               Susan V.             Katie
Erik                Ewa               Aaron               Breanna
Maureen        Jaell                Jackson             Marie-Eve
Tawney          Amy               Will                   Shaun
Afshawn         Patricia           Nile                  Jenni
Julius              Brett              Susan N.           Whitney
Mathew          Drake             Graham              Jess

If you’re name is on this list, you should’ve received an email response by now confirming your participation. And as I was sending each of these emails, I sort of came to the realization that only having four days to edit and polish this video while also having to worry about classes would be a little crazy. So for the sake of my sanity, I’m moving the due date to receive your videos to Sunday, October 17th. Which only gives us one more day to edit but eh, five days should do. Because I’m moving this date up a couple days, I’m also moving the confirmation date up, too which means, if you want to participate in this project, please send us an email by the end of today (Sunday, October 10th Pacific Time). There are only a couple spots left so if you’ve yet to respond, please do so now! I will assign each of the participants their lines tomorrow along with a detailed set of instructions on how we will proceed.

A big thank you to all who’ve responded (and who’ve yet to respond). Together, we’ll make SuperForest history.

Love!
Carla

Let’s Globalize the Humanifesto II: Norfolk, VA!

Norfolk, Virginia

Hello, SuperForesters!

It is with extreme excitement that I present to you, our very first Street Team Mission participant! Huzzah! About a week ago, SuperForest launched “Mission One” of our Street Team series (a.k.a. Part II of “Let’s Globalize the Humanifesto”). We asked SuperForesters from all over the world to print out a copy of the newly formatted humanifesto, hang it up in a public place, take a picture of it, and send it to us. Simple, no? And oh-so-fun!

A few nights ago, the lovely SuperForester Daniela sent in an email telling us of her SuperForest escapade at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Virginia. Here is SuperForester Daniela with the story:

Soooo, today I went to the Chrysler museum of Art here in Virginia with my family and I decided that it was my chance to finally paste the humanifesto somewhere. So I went to the bathroom and stuck in up in a stall so people can read it while they do their business! I think it’s a pretty fantastic idea if you ask me… Although I think I looked pretty suspicious walking in the bathroom with a roll of blue duct tape and about 5 copies of the humanifesto. Some middle-aged ladies even looked at me suspiciously. But that’s not the point

Anyway, I even took a picture of myself having SO MUCH FUN with the humanifesto. I think it’s a real good shot of us two : )

SuperForester Daniela!

Yay! There it is in it’s new home! I hope hundreds of thousands of beautiful ladies come and read it and feel inspired!

Amazing! Much love goes out to Daniela for that wonderful contribution!

And if any of you SuperForesters would like to participate in this Street Team Mission, you can find all of the details here!

Love always,
C
