Recently, in Colombia, we had the blessing of experiencing Yage/ Ayahuasca/ Waska, the spiritual Mother plant. We would like to share the power of this Divinity with you all!
“Some describe the experience as the death of the ego, as well as the death of the body and subsequent resurrection. In folklore, the experience of taking Yage is described as dying a death more severe than the little death we experience every night as we fall asleep. But not as severe as exchanging this life for the next. Like the ego being pounded under the hammer for pretending to be our BFF and then leading us away from Universal Truth.”

As always, the universe is so very kind in sending me things to read at the precise moment I need to read them. So of course, in a time when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed, it makes sense for it to send me this simple yet fascinating read in which we get a glimpse at the knowledge Zen scholar, Alan Watts, had to share with us.
I recently saw The Souljazz Orchestra perform live, and it was an amazing display of rhythm, melody, funk and love! They draw influences from 1960s and 1970s music, as well as funk and soul, jazz, afro and latin rhythms. You cannot help but let yourself go when dancing to their sounds! On my way out of the club, I purchased their new CD, Rising Sun, and upon opening it up I read these empowering, beautiful words:
“Before (long before) people of all races and creeds sang and danced and prayed to the sound of skin drums, primitive horns, gut-string harps, carved flutes — the pure sound of nature and supernature, which still reverberates deep within the self but is (too often) drowned out by the noise of the everyday. Awaken! From the daze of the modern age with its anxiety, fear, cynicism, depression…rend all veils, wash away all stains…Awaken …to the true self, the spiritual self, the eternal self, and your knowledge will become infinite with little remaining for you to know. Through mirrors and time, long last the prime of colour’s past design…in these fortunes we find our true love, passion for sublime, vision to seek past the normal, courage to feel strange, at one with the creator, rhythms feel the shaker and then we all belong.”
I’ve had the cd playing nonstop and I love their messages and artwork. The Souljazz Orchestra is going on tour in Europe this April, so if you get a chance you should really go and experience their music! Superforesters everywhere: what kind of music do you love?
