This is for SuperForester Christine who just nursed me back to health from the land of fever and chills.
An Ode to Sickness and Sorrow…
When sickness and sorrow come knocking,
I will not hide.I’ll throw my door open wide.
I’ll say gentlemen, at last you’ve arrived.
The bubbly is chilled, do please come inside.
For when sickness and sorrows come, I become them. Cherish them. Hold them close.
Tomorrow, they’ll be gone. I know. And when they leave, health and well-being will return.
So when your neck is sore and your head does burn, remember to cherish, appreciate, and learn.
Sickness will come, and sorrows will go. We’ll share stories and laughter in the meantime though.
Across the fever table, I’ll look both in the eye…
And say, thank you, my friends. Thank you for stopping by.As dark follows light, what’s wrong can be right.
If you love all with all of your might.Good Night.
(Jack and Baloo, sick with the flu, for the hundredth time this year.)
Thank you, Christine! Thank you with all of me wee little heart!
