Places to Visit: Seva Cafe, India

Hey Hey, SuperForest!

SuperForester Melissa was kind enough to share with us this splendid video describing the Seva Cafe in Ahmedabad, India. Operated on the principle of the “gift economy” this is a restaurant that serves food at zero charge. Yes, it’s true! The guests are able to enjoy meals that are paid for by those who came before them. And even thosedonations are voluntary and paid for from the heart. On top of that, all of the people who cook, clean, and serve are volunteers, too!

You might be asking yourself “What’s their trick? How does a business that’s almost entirely volunteer based sustain itself?” I think the answer is pure and simple. This is a place where people want to be. Why wouldn’t they be happy to help out and donate? Take a look and you’ll see for yourself.

Wowza! Saying this is a place of compassion, generosity, and loving community barely scratches the surface!

Seva Cafe = definite place to visit.
