Takeshi Yamada – Rogue Taxidermist

(image via flickr user istolethetv)

Japanese ex-pat Takeshi Yamada lives in Coney Island and runs a sideshow gallery of incredible oddities. The oddest oddity in his collection has got to be Takeshi-san himself. This bon vivant, sculptor, painter, author, scholar, and rogue taxidermist reminds me to enjoy being different and embrace the things that genuinely bring me joy.

Seldom photographed without his trusty, self-created “sea rabbit” known as Seara, and usually clad in his uniform of cast off tuxedos rescued from thrift shops, Takeshi has brought smiles and joy to many hundreds of visitors to his Coney Island freak show.

Go Takeshi!

Any SuperForesters out Coney Island ways should pay a visit to Mr. Takeshi Yamada, rogue taxidermist.
