Found Poetry

Every month SuperForester Jordan “rediscovers” a literary gem from the vast treasure trove of an art form that, in our technological age, has become largely under-appreciated and “lost”.

I had never heard of poet, novelist, teacher, screenwriter, and editor Robley Wilson until my friend gave me his poem “I wish in the city of your heart” today.  What I love is the way this poem catches me off-guard.  What begins for me as the highest form of hallmark card poetry, suddenly blossoms full-form into an imagist poem of profound yet simple beauty.

I wish in the city of your heart.

I wish in the city of your heart
you would let me be the street
where you walk when you are most
yourself.  I imagine the houses:
It has been raining, but the rain
is done and the children kept home
have begun opening their doors.

I originally started  this Found Poetry series as a way  to share my favorite poems and poets in the hopes of inspiring all of you.  I so love it when the poems find me.

Happy Friday!
