Good Afternoon SuperForest!

What a week! The glorious celebratory moments of the birth of America 2.0 are ones that will forever be engraved in my memory. But now, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. Given the current economic crisis and other catastrophes that are occurring throughout the globe, I know it can seem a little paralyzing. Just the thought of rebuilding this country seems daunting in itself, but this kind of thought process won’t get us anywhere.
You are a SuperForester.
You see the world differently.
Sure, at times it really feels like we are surrounded by disaster, but in that, we can also observe opportunity. There are glimmers of hope all around us and it is our job to magnify those glimmers and project them outward.
The fine folks over at ReadyMade did just that with their Poster Children project. They explained that during the times of the Great Depression (or as Jon Stewart named it, “The First Great Depression”), the New Deal plan under the FDR administration sponsored the Federal Art Project as an invitation to all artists to take part in the “moral rejuvenation of the country”. As a result, several posters were created. They were posters that encouraged hygiene, education, and culture.
Here are a couple examples of some of the posters you’d see…

With this knowledge, ReadyMade decided to take this idea and give it more of a modern twist. They asked five artists to re-imagine the populist poster art of the late 30s into concepts and ideas that are being promoted today. The results were gorgeous.

Hope all of YOU beautiful beacons of hope have an excellent weekend!
Keep Shining,
-C
