Goooood Morning SuperForest,
Here we are. Three years in. 720,000 visits and over a million page views. I suppose it’s time I spilled the beans on why I started SuperForest, and what I’m hoping it will become in the future.
But first, an etymology lesson:
Think for a moment about the word realize. I used to think it meant to understand, or to grasp, or to know. But it doesn’t.
To realize literally means to make real.
So, SuperForesters, let me tell you my vision for the future, and if it strikes your fancy then let us work together to realize it.
We are going to reforest and garden the planet Earth. We are going to heal the soil of the planet by treating it with respect, encouraging it, and actively rebuilding it by adding only organic materials. We are going to create vast wild forests full of food, diversity, and abundance.
In addition to this, we are going to build a new living network to house the 7 billion children of the Earth, their children, their children’s children, and so on. This new network is going to be ecologically and socially sustainable, and again will promote diversity, abundance, and open communication and fast travel between networks.
We will build upwards, not outwards. This will allow for maximum density with a minimum of footprint and impact. We will share resources, abundance, and knowledge freely. We will consider the needs of the many over the needs of the few, and we will put the health of the Earth’s future children as our goal, and not imaginary numbers, or minerals that cannot be eaten.
We will judge success and value by the joy-quotient of people’s daily lives, and the diversity and health of the systems in which they reside.
I myself am currently engaged in learning the basics of the creation of such a system.
My hope for me, and for all SuperForesters, is that once this current vision is shared by a critical mass of people, we find joy and engagement in traveling the world, helping to reforest that which has become desert, and to re-garden ground that has been paved over.
We will promote security through diversity and abundance.
We will help the people of planet Earth successfully transition from war, capitalism, and destruction to a newer, more egalitarian method of living.
We will do this by exploring such systems ourselves. Then by promoting the creation and exploration of further sustainable living systems to our friends, who will tell their friends, etc.
If we can convince 1% of the “powers that be” that there is a better world shimmering into focus, and that we all must concentrate our attention and energy on the exploration and promotion of this world, then we will succeed.
It only takes one percent of us changing our minds to have the effects ripple outward and make life better for the other 99%
This is our job. This is our joy. The reforestation of the planet, and the abundance and peace that such a wonderful movement will create.
We are SuperForesters! We are learning the magic of gardening, peace, re-use, connection, communication, out-reach, cooking, cleaning, playing, loving. We are learning the language of unity and the skills necessary to helping others discover unity for themselves.
We will feed first ourselves, and then our neighbors, and then their neighbors. We will house ourselves, and then our friends, and then their friends.
Our work will begin with the self, defusing the ego, regaining the knowledge of unity. Then we will help those around us.
That is my vision for the future.
The creation of a SuperForest. A verdant, wild, forest, where man lives in peace and abundance. We will be like elves with the internet! Like high tech hobbits! We will fuse ancient wisdom and high technology.
The creation of the SuperForest will allow us to begin addressing a newer and more interesting set of challenges. Namely, how to explore and spread humanity throughout the Universe, with joy, in peace, forever.
