Size matters!

Yesterday, Australia’s Big Pineapple was officially heritage-listed. Built in the ’70s, it is the reason millions of tourists head to the country’s sunny Queensland each year. It got me thinking about other “big things” and my googling lead me here: Big Things. While us Down Under folk boast the Big Pineapple; Big Apple; Big Avocado; Big Banana; Big Marino; and Big Penguin (see images above), what of all the other countries? While a quick internet search might answer my question, I’d prefer to hear about international “big things” from you! Talk to me, people …

Best Job in the World

You must watch this now:

What’s all the singing about?  Well Mitchell here is one of 50 short-listed applicants from 30,000 who applied for the Best Job in the World.    And what, you ask might that be?

When I hear a title like best job in the world, I’m usually pretty skeptical.  But after hearing about this crazy competition to become “Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef” … I’m convinced.

Here’s the deal.  The Queensland Tourism board created the caretaker position and a competition to fill it.  For 6 months you get to live on the Great Barrier Reef, have an awesome, easy job, and get paid 100k.

Sounds too good to be true?  Well it is… only because the contest is now closed.  Dang! I only wished I knew months ago so I could have applied.

They’ve got a great website here, with loads of fun applicant videos like Mitchell’s, which you can vote on to win.

Now back to the second best job in the world… SuperForesting!
