Chaharshanbeh Soori Video

Success! Last night I met up with Medi and a few friends and we had us a proper send off for Old Man Winter.

I got to Medi’s around 11:30 and we hung for a bit. It was Medi, his brother, and his friend Ricardo. The four of us went into the backyard of Medi’s incredible digs in the East Village and got the fire going. I spoke briefly about what Chaharshanbeh Soori is, what it means, and why we were building the fire. Medi had made little prayer drawings on tissue paper and we thought about our ancestors and set them alight, watching in the darkness and chill as little flashes of fire drifted upwards. It was proper and poetic.

Then we jumped over the fire a bunch! I’m cutting together a longer video with the full works.

It was wonderful to think of all of Winter’s cold being rinsed away in a mid-air pass through flames. All sickness and negativity is left on the ground on one side of the fire, and when you land on the other side, the fire has burned it all away, and you step into Spring clean and renewed.

Hope everyone had a safe and happy St. Patty’s/Chaharshanbeh Soori!

Love to All,

Jackson
