
Patty Maes and her team at MIT are developing a device that allows for seamless, real-world meta-data awareness. What does that mean? It means the information on the web becomes a part of your awareness as you walk through your life. No more strangers, no more unknown products or ideas, no more unknown anything… Existence will be searchable.

This TED talk is amazing for many reasons, but one that may not be so apparent is the debt that this research owes to Johnny Lee, the inventor whose TED talk showed that this tech was in our grasp using nothing more than hack wii-motes.

So, now that information is everywhere and easily accessible, how are we going to deal with it as a society? Fun question.
Ten years or less and we’ll all have these devices and we’ll all “know” each other. And more than that, we’ll all “know” where all our friends are and what they’re doing, how they’re feeling.
Planet Earth is about to get pretty cramped. It is time to start playing nicely.
