As a person who is easily distracted, to sit down and write something out in it’s entirety without stopping every couple of minutes to check email, reply instant message conversations or jump into the wealth of information that my Google Reader always has readily available is super difficult! Some time ago I stumbled upon OmmWriter, an app for Mac that cuts out all the distraction and lets you focus on letting your thoughts flow. Prompted by SuperForester Mat, who remarked to me today about how he was procrastinating writing his essay, I pointed him towards the Omm and within half an hour he had finished! To quote: “ahhh, that was the best writing sesh ever!”. Wisely, he suggested that I share this with all of you! So, I hope that this neat little tool can help any of you out there with the same situation! I find it best to leave the built-in music on as it really does stimulate a state of concentration.
