Friends

Hello SuperForest,

Happy belated Valentine’s Day! As Carla mentioned yesterday, Valentines Day is not a day dedicated only to romance. In fact, in Mexico it is referred to as the “Day of Friendship and Love”. So on this friendly note, I bring you a passage from the Old Testament that I thought summed up the idea of a “friend” rather nicely:

“A kind mouth multiplies friends, and gracious lips prompt friendly greeting. Let your aquaintances be many, but one in a thousand your confidant…A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter, he who finds one a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth. A faithful friend is a life-saving remedy, such as he who fears God finds; for he who fears God behaves accordingly, and his friend will be like himself.” (Sirach 6:5-6, 14-17)
