Today I found something on the Internet that made me laugh harder than I’ve laughed in awhile. The premise was simple: this website contained nothing but pictures of famous celebrities or characters. However, what was different about them was something completely extraordinary: all of them had faces digitally altered to make them look like Nicholas Cage. Don’t ask me why this was funny – it just was, and I think that was what made it so hilarious. There is nothing like seeing Sarah Palin, in her natural state, except something is strikingly different about her: she has the face of Nicholas Cage.
Then you scroll down, and you see a plethora of alter ego Cages. I laughed. There is something inexplicable about it, the absolute absurdity contrasts with the presentation itself. There is no explanation as to ‘why’ these pictures exist. They appeared out of thin air, sparking some sort of Nicholas chain reaction, and now many people are in on it. It’s as simple as that.
