Michael Bungay Stainer’s “Eight Principals of Fun”!

8 Principals of Fun

Good Afternoon, SuperForest!

SuperForester Cole sent in this incredible short animation by Michael Bungay Stainer (founder of Box of Crayons, a company that describes their work as helping organizations and teams around the world “do less Good Work and more Great Work”). Stainer’s high credentials and background in the business world is what threw me off when I read about his animated short, “Eight Irresistible Principals of Fun“. Business and Fun? Aren’t those supposed to mix like oil in water? I mean, we see it everywhere, that big division between business and pleasure, so what could Stainer know about “Fun”?

The fact of the matter is, Mr. Stainer knows a great deal about fun. And I personally believe that in part, this is what has led to his success. Because maybe that’s the point…the key to running a successful organization or team is to first and foremost have fun. Maybe the key is to shatter that wall that society has created that divides “work” and “pleasure”. “Have Fun.” It’s something I’ve heard time and time again, a ubiquitous phrase that almost seems to be watered down more and more with its constant usage. But let me tell you, never before has that simple phrase made more sense until after I saw this…

LOVE!!! I’ve got to write those principals down somewhere! A big thank you goes out to SuperForester Cole for sharing that gem of a video!

Love to all. Whatever you are currently doing, hope you are having fun. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
