“8-Bit Trip” by Rymdreglage!

The sheer amount of Lego involved/inspired videos out there is stunning, but I have yet to see one that matches the brilliance of this one. Created by Rymdreglage, this video took somewhere around 1500 hours of moving legobricks and taking photos of them.

Behold, 8-Bit Trip:

Stop Motion videos plus funky chip tune music combined to celebrate classic video games?! And there you were thinking your weekend couldn’t get any better.

Love!

Nathan Sawaya: Lego Lennon Tribute!

This = awesome.

“To commemorate John Lennon’s tragic death 25 years ago this December 8, I wanted to create something unique. I settled on his famous self-portrait that John sketched of himself in 1968. I wanted to create a piece that gave more depth to Lennon’s signature self portrait. I reconstructed that sketch out of bricks and then suspended the pieces on almost non-visible strings which gives, at first glance, the illusion that John’s face is floating. I felt by suspending the piece in mid-air, it suggests that John is more reachable. By allowing one to physically put their arm through his portrait, this piece allows people to almost figuratively pass through John.”

-Nathan Sawaya

That is so great. We’d love to put our arms around and through John Lennon.

World’s Tallest Lego Tower!

Just saw this over @ dvice.com

“If you’re looking for the tallest tower of LEGO in the world, here’s a picture of it right here. This monster was built in the Legoland Windsor theme park in the U.K. of 500,000 LEGO bricks, and stands just shy of 100 feet high. That eclipses the old record of 96.1 feet from August of last year by more than three feet, and has been submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for authentication.

Notice the stabilizing guy wires, holding the enormous tower of plastic steady as it reaches to the sky. Good thing they had a crane to place the half-millionth piece atop the huge stack. Why all this falderal? Well, if you can believe it, this is the 50th anniversary of LEGO, a half-century ago shoving aside Erector Sets, coonskin caps and Hula Hoops to become one of fave diversions of ersatz builders the world over.”

Like Legos, we humans can do such incredible things when we stick together. Ha!
