Amazing Robotic Fish!

Amazing Robotic Fish

“This self-guided robotic fish was developed by computer scientists at the University of Essex in the U.K.
The fish uses artificial intelligence and built-in sensors to avoid obstacles and respond to environmental changes. The fish’s battery lasts for up to five hours, though the scientists hope to one day program it to search for and access a recharging station when it runs low. This work has many real-world applications, including seabed exploration, detecting leaks in oil pipelines, mine countermeasures, and improving the performance of underwater vehicles.”

So cool.

BigDog Quadrupedal Robot!

This is the BigDog Quadrupedal Robot from Boston Dynamics.

Is it not a bit chilling to watch it move?

Boston D’s got lots of little critters in the pipeline:

Nothing quite gets under your skin line BigDog, though. In the video, when the guy kicks it in the side and it immediately compensates? Chilling. What about when it nearly slips on the ice? It reminded me of nature footage of a giraffe baby’s tentative first steps.

Just think, if this is Version 1, what will Version 10 look like?

Like this?

Start saving up for that EMP. It’s the only way to beat the Machines.

Snake-Bot!!!

Wow!

These clever cats at Carnegie Mellon’s Biorobotics Lab have created a miraculous robot snake. Check out this video:

So, it can swim, it can climb either the inside or outside of a cylinder, and it can crawl through tunnels while sending back video feeds. Staggering.

Now seems to be a good time to head into a career in robot engineering, programming, etc.

The next few years ought to be pretty exciting.

Check out the Biorobotics site.
