Good Morning, SuperForest!
Ken Murphy’s A History of the Sky project compares side by side time-lapse images of the sky captured above the Exploratorium on the edge of San Francisco bay. Each square in the video display represents a day, each day is in order, and ultimately, he’s hoping to continue this project until there are 365 squares to represent the whole year.
Recently, he’s uploaded his 126 day update and though the notion of staring at a screen compared to the observing the real thing seems like it could hardly compare, the result of his time-lapse work is not only beautiful, but incredibly powerful. While watching it, I felt a strange mix of bewilderment and peace. Observing the cascading effect of sunsets on this brilliant mosaic served as a sweet break and was much appreciated.
…and then I felt like I was wasting time watching clouds go by when I had a zillion other things to do. :)
So four-and-a-half minutes might feel a bit long, but there is no denying the fact that it’s still wicked awesome.
You can keep up with his project on his site (or even help support it on kickstarter), here!
Love,
C
