What is the SuperForest Summit? Why August 2011?
Well…in a sense, the SuperForest Summit will be a joining of hands, hearts and minds, where we can all be together and share our SuperForestyness! SuperForest’s version of a UN Meeting, if you will. (Yikes — flashback of mock UN in high school!)
I think the SuperForest Summit can probably be whatever we want it to be, but as far as the finer details go, I will refer to our wise, generous and totally rad hosts for this event: SuperForesters Jackson, Jesse and Jon. All I know is that I want to get down with my bad permaculture-learnin’ self and get dirty in the gardens, make some great food and meet a bunch of SuperForesters! Anything else would be a bonus!
Here’s how this idea originally came about:
As many of us know, SuperForester Jackson has extended the invite to visit Zero One, and some SuperForesters have already done so, in many different stages of its development. With this in mind, I have always personally been thinking about when I might visit. I always thought it would be even more amazing if as many SuperForesters as possible were there at the same time!
Also, a long time ago, I answered this question in a Team SuperForest questionnaire:
Q. What’s your favourite thing about SuperForest?
A. I love SuperForest’s energy. It’s a place to go in your mind where you can share without being judged, hug and be hugged, express yourself creatively and sit in a circle with likeminded, passionate individuals. It’s like the most amazing summer camp that lasts forever and operates 24/7 around the world.
Then, recently I had a vision about SuperForest around the time of the New Reality Transmission:
All of us SuperForesters were walking in the woods (or the forest, if you will…), some of us were skipping (i.e. Jackson and Patricia for some reason) and the forest we were exploring looked a lot like the trails I love to hike in. We came to a clearing and many of us realized we were meeting for the first time. We all hugged and then sat down and created a totally spontaneous massage circle! I swear this was the vision I had, for real! After we were all relaxed and connected, we got up and broke out into a whole bunch of mini discussions with each other, and then built a campfire and sat around it connecting and loving life.
I swear it was my subconscious that created this vision but isn’t that awesome? It makes total sense because I would love for that to actually happen, so of course when I calmed my thoughts, this ideal thought came to the forefront of my mind.
So I guess you could say, I’m already sitting around the fire with all of you in my mind, but I’d love to make it a reality.
This year I started a new job that gives me 3 weeks vacation in August (don’t hate!) and in 2011 my vacay falls between August 6th and 27th! So, I’m bookending my trip in beautiful British Columbia, but for an undetermined amount of time, I’m heading to ZERO ONE!!!
As I mentioned, this plan was always in the works in my own mind, but it was only until SuperForester Jon mentioned the idea of a “UN Meeting” in some recent emails that a lightbulb went off. He said, and I quote:
I love you all and can’t wait to hug you all in person. When’s the first SuperForest UN Meeting???
Then, SuperForester Jackson mentioned that he, SuperForester Jon and SuperForester Jesse would all collaborate and co-host this SuperForest Summit!
Thus, the plan. So far it’s less of a fully formed baby and more of a tiny little embryo, but let’s nourish it together, give it shape and form, and make it a reality! Extreme gratitude to the SFJ Trifecta for whatever they bring to the hosting table!
