Hey SuperForest
I saw this news story today and it made me smile: “Hollywood star Johnny Depp has made an unannounced visit to a London primary school after receiving a letter from one of its pupils. The actor turned up at the school in Greenwich, south-east London, dressed as his Pirates of the Caribbean alter-ego Captain Jack Sparrow. He said nine-year-old Beatrice had written to Captain Jack, asking him to lead a mutiny against her teachers.”
Depp has a bit of a history in using his Captain Jack alter-ego to bring unexpected smiles to children – back in 2008 (as well as making a sizeable donation) he rocked up to the wonderful Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and “unknown to the public, Depp spent four hours at the hospital telling bedtime stories to patients dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow after having his Pirates Of The Caribbean costume flown over from Los Angeles.”
Yes, as a movie star Depp has more resources at his disposal, but what I like is – more than money – he’s taken advantage of the unique opportunity he has of surprising kids in his Jack Sparrow character, seemingly just because it’s awesome and he can.
Doing nice things, for the niceness of it, because we can – now’t wrong with that
Love
P
