Liu Bolin: The Real Invisible Man

Can you find the artist in this picture?

How about this one…

In doing research for a top secret screenplay (all we can say is our givoogle search was for “Chameleon Suit”)… SuperForester Aaron and I came upon the amazing work of Chinese artist Liu Bolin.  AKA: “The Invisible Man”.

Trained in sculpture, Liu Bolin took to painting himself against urban backdrops after Chinese authorities shut down his art studio in 2005.  Simple enough in concept, absolutely stunning in actualization.  Why does he do it?   His work is meant as a statement of silent protest against the persecution of artists, as well as a powerful visual symbol for anyone who has ever felt marginalized by society.  In Liu’s own words: “‘My work is a kind of reminder, to remind people what the community we live in really looks like, and what kind of problems exist.’

The only think cooler than this stunning work, would be if we all had the ability to just do that with our skin!
