What up, SuperForest!?
SuperForester Nika here, bringing you a DIY project that will make your summer a bit sweeter. As of late, we’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach and pool and after spending days in the sun, nothing hits the spot more than ice cold sorbet. So when I saw this 28 second Sprintcuts video on how to make “Speedy Sorbet”, I had to try it out.
Looked easy enough, so Iman, Carla, and I gathered up the ingredients and got to work.
What You Need:
-Ice
-Salt
-Any juice of your choice (we started out with orange)
-Plastic baggie

First, we juiced about five oranges and kept the peels (we’d use this as bowls to serve the sorbet once it was finished). Then we sifted the orange juice and poured it into the Ziploc bag.

Second, we got a bowl, filled it with ice and a lot of salt (the salt raises the freezing temperature, so the more you put in, the speedier the results. Also, rock salt is supposed to work best). At this point if you test the water temperature it should be really cold.

After that, we added the sealed Ziploc bag full of orange juice. We mixed it a bit and then sealed the bowl shut and shook it for about 15 minutes (having cousins around to alternate definitely helps). Next, we took the Ziploc bag and stuck it in the freezer to keep it cool while we ate dinner. Once you’re ready to eat the sorbet, you serve it in the orange skin and presto! Enjoy!

Love,
Nika
