In the same vein as Gratitude Tweeting, there’s a new website that pokes fun in such a cool way at the terribly negative website “fmylife.com”. It’s called Gives Me Hope! Here’s some of my favorites:
“I am a lesbian and I was walking through a busy town holding my girlfriend’s hand. As usual, we were glared at and yelled at a lot. Then we passed a woman walking with her daughter, who was maybe 7 years old. The little girl asked her mom why two girls were holding hands, and we heard her say after we passed, “Because they love each other.” GMH.”
“My friend’s younger sister was coming home by herself when a guy on the bus began hassling her. An elderly man on the other side of the bus stood up and demanded that the guy “leave his granddaughter alone”. The guy stopped, and got off at the next stop. The elderly man was a stranger. GMH.”
“This week we found out that our 18 month puppy would need surgery to remove the ball of string she swallowed. The Animal Hosp was going to charge us $3000, which we could never afford. They let us bring her home to say goodbye, and we made arrangements with the local vet to put her to sleep. Instead he offered to do the surgery free. GMH.”
There’s so many more, and they’re all so great and make me feel teary eyed. I’m not one to like very Hallmark-card-ish saccarhine sweet stories, but these are all different. They feel real. What a great idea.
From Iman: “Today Chris found a wonderful website that promotes hordes of positivity and rather than make me snicker at others’ failures, makes me choke up with joy at people’s accomplishments and touching stories. GMH!”
Aw!
Love to all of you, you who GMH,
Chris
