Seduberry; The Fruit Of Seduction

Hey SuperForest,

This struck me sideways! Hailing from Tasmania, 22-year-old Joshua Engwerd, a very keen gardener and all-round romantic guy, has developed moulds which make for heart-shaped strawberries; an idea he thought of for his girlfriend.

The first Australian commercial crop of heart-shaped strawberries, fittingly called Seduberries, will be harvested in Tasmania next month. Josh says he got the idea after recalling an article about Japan’s cube-shaped watermelons (below).

Unreal, isn’t it? The watermelons were grown in glass boxes, and the fruit simply assumed the same shape. And if you missed this episode of the SuperForest Show, check it out over a plate of regular-shaped s/berries or w/melon. Yay!

Leon: “Seasonality Chart”

Heyo, SuperForesters!

Years ago, I spoke to a lovely raw foodist who told me he never ate any fruits or vegetables that were out of season because nature didn’t intend us to eat them at that time. I was young, but his simple explanation made a lot of sense to me. If something is out of season, maybe mother nature doesn’t suggest you eat it at that time. And on the other hand, if something is in season, it’s a pretty safe bet to say there are nutrients in there to help get you through that time of the year.

For those of you that are interested in this sort of thing, I present this lovely and beautifully laid out seasonality chart:

This rainbow of deliciousness was created by the fine folks of Leon. Word has it, this is one of the UK’s “top healthy food restaurants, using only local and natural ingredients, and changes their menu accordingly with the seasons.” Therefore, it’s intended for British cooks or food enthusiasts. However, I’m pretty sure the food seasons are, for the most part, applicable for those of us here in the Americas, too.

Love to all!
