Good Morning, SuperForest!
It doesn’t take much to notice the beautiful complexity in the nature that surrounds us, less so when it comes to flowers, but photographer Hugh Turvey decided to capture that beauty in a manner that is a little…unique. He took x-rays of them.
When asked about this rather unorthodox method of flower photography, Turvey responded, “I’m driven by my curiosity. It’s about discovering the world around us. As a kid I would take things apart to see what was inside and how they worked. I have an insane curiosity for how things work. X-ray gives me a way to get that insight and turn it into art.” In the end, Turvey was able to create art that is not only genius, but pretty awe-inspiring, too. And his series of photographs shows us that even when it comes to flowers, beauty can still be more than “skin deep”.
