Good Evening, SuperForest!
When it comes to sleek and incredible architecture, it goes without say that the Japanese have got it going on. And it is thanks to Japanese architect Toyo Ito that we have this incredible structure to gaze at in wonder and amazement.

This stunning stadium can be found in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and the “dragon’s” striking scales are made up of…

Solar Panels!
Double win! It’s a gorgeous stadium and it is the first in the world to provide all its own electricity using the power of the sun! Alright so there is no denying the fact that this stadium (built for the 2009 World Games that’ll take place in July) is awesome, so now I’ll drop some facts…
- The 19 hectare structure has a seating capacity of 55,000!
- The 8,844 solar panels will generate more than enough electricity to power the building’s 3,300 lights and two giant television screens.
- The panels will generate 1.14 million kWh of electricity per year, preventing 660 tons of annual carbon dioxide from being pumped into the atmosphere from traditional power stations!!!

Kudos, Taiwan! Bravo, Toyo Ito!
Yay, green architecture and engineering!!
Love to all,
Carla
