Cross Cultural Solutions: A Peace Corps Alternative

volunteer-group

When I was in college I unfortunately did not take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad.  I blame it on my full time employment status and my inability to take off of work.  I must admit, however, I could’ve done it had I made it a priority.

I thought my chance had passed.  In the thick of paying off loans and my strong desire for stable health care, I thought my ability to explore had been lost.  It was not to return until I was free from my financial burden.  I know what you’re thinking.  ”Peace Corps, Jaell.  The Peace Corps is your answer!”

Well I considered that, but frankly, I don’t know that I want to spend a year or two abroad.  Not just yet.  Not when I am having fun with my friends and am relatively carefree.  Maybe someday, but not right now.

So… I was surfing the web.  While looking for my next best opportunity, something crossed my path.  Its called “Cross-Cultural Solutions“.  It’s a Peace Corps alternative!  Perhaps you would love to work for an organization that needs you.  Maybe you want to find a way to experience the world without being just a tourist.  Cross Cultural Solutions allows for more flexibility to make that happen.

With this organization you can volunteer for projects that last anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks.  Plus, they start frequently so you don’t necessarily have much crunch time for application.  They seem to take group volunteers, too.  NEAT!

This has definitely opened my eyes and optimisticized (not a word) me about the opportunities available in the world.  They don’t end when you reach a certain age.  People want you to put yourself to good use.  If you feel the need to do something more with yourself, maybe look for those opportunities.  They’re yours for the taking.

Love,
