Blue Avocado: Update

p1000901

A while back I posted about Blue Avocado — a wonderful Mom-n-Mom start up company committed to eliminating plastic bags with their stylish and highly functional reusable totes.

I’ve had my blue avocado bag “kit” for a year now and gave been beyond thrilled.  I’ve also bought several kits and “pod” bags for friends, who taken to using them as school, beach and travel bags in addition to eco-friendly grocery bag replacements.

And now the company’s expanded their bag selection to encompass what (as a guy) I think are even cooler designs.  Namely the solid colors of black, green, and grey:

It’s practical, durable, eco-friendly, and helps fight the good fight to eliminate plasticfrom our beautiful earth.  Which seems to be a theme for the week with April’s green hangers and my paper water bottle post.  It’s a message we at SuperForest can’t champion enough.

So join us and blueavocado.com in their billion bag pledge to stop using plastic!  They’re up to 151,000 pledges already!

Blue Avocado: the New Green

We at SuperForest know that everyone comes to the sustainable table at their own engagement level. And while you may not be ready to commit to a zero-impact life, we’d like to think that by the end of this decade (9 months away), everyone could and should at least be doing their small part for the planet. Like swapping regular light-bulbs for LEDS, recycling, or eliminating plastic bags.

That last one’s the mission of Blue Avocado, a lovely Mom-n-Mom based company on a crusade to crush plastic consumption. Their doing it with a system of practical, fashionable, and re-usable bags… and the help of Schlumpy:

So far Blue Avocado has received over 52,000 pledges.  You can pledge to “bag” plastic here. Blue Avocado is making donations to kiva.org for the first 30,000 views.

And buy their bags! Do it by March 20th, and they’re giving away a free gro tote when you purchase a kit.  It’s a good cause and they’re great bags.  I know because that’s me in the above pic, and I use mine all the time.  The coolest part — that little bag opens to a big tote that holds multiple other unfoldable bags inside.  Clever!

In this small way, we can all make a difference.  So buy blue and go green!
