Good evening, SuperForesters!
Several months ago, SuperForester Billy told me of some poetry he had written that he wanted to email me because he thought it would be of interest to all of you readers. I don’t know how long I waited for this email, but I do know it was definitely worth the wait. His poem, “Manifest”, was eerily timely and spoke volumes to me and I’m sure it will have the same effect on you. Here it goes…
“Manifest” by William David Galewood II (a.k.a Bushwalla)
There is an elevator in my throat that goes from my brain to my heart.
The heart welcomes the brain, and expresses gratitude for the visit.
“I have a great home” the heart says
“four rooms, with plenty of space to grow”
the brain thinks twice, then a third time. Says nothing but extends a half smile.
Still stuck on the elevator.
The heart says
“We have manifested a space were plenty can come and go. A place to breathe and dance ……..be”
Heart extends a vein to the brain
” You know we have the same love for music”
says the heart
the brain raises a wrinkle, and ?’s the logic here.
“How can I create my own love?”
the brain thinks
“What would I do with the time?”
the brain considers
“How would I eat?”
the brain worries
“Who would I talk to?”
the brain feels its outline
Finally the brain speaks and says
” I need to leave, I am uncomfortable”.
The heart replies
“I love you for your discomfort, and it is bold to take to change.”
“I love you for your worries, and will to stay the same”
“I love you for loving you.
and I will should you leave”
the brain replies.
“I’ll think about it”
Brilliant. A huge hug and thank you goes out to Billy for the share! And if you feel like you’re craving more words of love and kindness from the funkmaster himself, you’re in luck, because we’ve got a second poem of his on deck that’ll be shared tomorrow, so check back soon!
