Just found this over at wikimedia. It’s hard to believe that this technology has been in use since at least the year 1219. Such an elegant design… swoon. Windmill schematics really do it for SF.

This little beauty happens to be the Beebe Windmill in Long Island. It was built in 1820. Just like Florence Nightingale!
